Happy New Year 2012! ^__^
Happy New Year 2012! (3-day-late, though!) Anyway, better late than never!
Well, I am not going to write much for a start in 2012. According to the Mayan Prophecy, the world is going to END on 2012. All the results were doom and gloom if you were to Google on "2012". Pretty scary, huh?
Life goes on though, regardless of whether the Mayan Prophecy is true. Here is just a repost of a meaningful article I read to remind myself of my aim in life.

別让自己遗憾的过
今天是1月2日，2012年第二天。
昨天跨年，有人兴奋，有人沉思，有人疯狂玩闹，有人寂静度过，无论跨年午夜零時，你是如何度过的，今天，是1月2日。
你可记得2011年的目标是什么吗？2012年，你有沒有什么目标？
別说什么希望世界和平、希望赚大钱、希望考好成绩、希望减肥、希望多一点时间陪家人、希望升职、希望成为人见人爱的人，別说“希望”，千万别仅仅说“希望”。
随口问了身边一些朋友2012年的目标，不知是笔者表达能力差，还是大家想的都不一样。很多人说的是，“希望”这一年如何，只有少部份的人会說，这一年“要”如何。
朋友，今年的目标，说“要”。要这个字，是给自己下決心，而不是单靠运气的希望。是自己要做到，而不是单靠別人帮自己完成。
记得自己在2011年曾说出目标，很老实的说，目标沒达成。如果要解释，笔者可以解释这一年太忙，工作上有好多的事，但那些都只是理由和借口，自己有沒有真正努力过，自己最清楚。
2011年已过去了，再多的懊恼惧怕成就，其实都过去了。新的一年，笔者要做的目标相同，這一次，沒有理由和借口了。
朋友，2012年你要做到的目标是什么？
2012年还365天结束，又如果玛雅文明所說的12月21日真是世界末日，我们的人生剩下355天，我们如何捉紧这355天？
今年的355天，可能是最后的人生，你又要如何过？别让自己遗憾的过，这不是忠告，是笔者自己告诉自己的话。

EXTREEEEEEEEEEMEEEE
OMG... It had really been a while since I last update my blog... Okok... Not a while though... A LONG WHILE... ^__^
Sigh. I really should be updating my blog more often. Ah well. We move on. Welcome to another fascinating installment of "OMG DID HE JUST UPDATE HIS BLOG?!"
Well, nothing much to share about myself... As usual just a simple guy living a simple life... and so, I decided to share an inspiring short story here... A real short one...
TWO FROGS
A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. he jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf, he thought they were actually encouraging him the entire time.
Moral of the story:
1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.
2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them.
Be careful of what you say. Speak of life to those who cross your path. the power of words. It is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.^__^

Little Nyonya
Lately, NTV7 replays the Singapore drama serial Little Nyonya. This is the first time I get to watched this drama. Seriously, it is a great drama featuring a touching peranakan story of Baba Nyonya heritage. Though it was just some beginning of the drama, it successfully depicts the peranakan culture like the marriage ceremony, peranakan architecture as well as Nyonya culinary arts. Thumbs up! Yeap!
Well, this drama with its peranakan dishes somehow remind me of my late grand mom, 阿嫲! Though she passed away when I was three, I can still remember her favourite dishes - mang kuang char, ong lai shui, ti bun shui - which are a MUST during special occasion. Not to add the kuih kapit, rempah udang, kuih bahulu and bubur cha cha. YUMMY! YUMMY!
This, then, lead me thinking of whether I am also a descendant of peranakan. Hmm... A peculiar question. Aren't you a hokkien? Well, that is what my dad and my grand pa told me. You are hokkien lang (people). Just that I am curious of that many peranakan culture shown by my late grand mom. Her usual clothing - baju kebaya and sarung (Sama as my Kor Po, who is my grand pa's sister). Her favourite dishes, mang kuang char, ong lai shui, ti bun shui, asam pedas and lor bak, are all famous peranakan cuisine. Also, she used to call a guy, "Ah Ba" and a girl, "Ah Nya".
Do all these provide an answer to my question? May be. Somehow, someday, I' ll try to dig deep into my history and get to know more of my ancestor. Haha! Somehow... Anyway, isn't it wonderful how a drama can have influence on you? That is the power of a great drama, influencing you with its fantastic story plots, fabulous characters and pleasant scenery.
I bet you will never regret in watching this drama. It really brings back that good old memories long kept deep in your heart. To end my post, hereby I present you the lovely opening theme, 如燕 by Olivia Ong.
